2009 Focus: Angelina College

Angelina College is located in Lufkin, TX. Head coach Todd Neighbors looks to improve on last year's team at Angelina in his second year at the helm and fourth overall at the school. The Roadrunners added some talented transfers this past season to some of the freshman he had returning from last years squad. JucoJunction had a chance to touch base with coach Neighbors recently on the Roadrunners.
Ervin Spuriel, (SO) 6-foot-9 (245) from Philadelphia. Spuriel is just one of the several Philadelphia players on this seasons roster at Angelina college.

"Ervin is a very skilled low block player who very long and active on both ends," said Neighbors.
Ervin averaged 10.5 ppg, 7.6 rebounds and shot 55.2% (137-248) from the floor last season. Spruiel, an all-conference performer, has been offered by Arkansas Little Rock this summer. Arkansas Little Rock hired Marlon Terry this summer who is a Philadelphia native and last year was a assistant coach at Angelina College. Spuriel will visit Arkansas-Little Rock this weekend on an official visit.
Rondrico Hightower, (SO) 6-foot-7 (240) from Augusta, GA. Hightower is a very skilled power forward who can play with his back to the basket or can face up" said Neighbors. Rondrico came off the bench last season for the Roadrunners. Hightower averaged 5.9 ppg and 3.7 rebounds while shooting 56% (73-130) from the floor last season.
Jason Sabb, (SO) 6-foot-3 (190) from Philadelphia. Coach Neighbors coached Jason's brother Shawn at Independence Community College in Kansas back in 2005-2006.
"Jason is a big time defender who can also get to the basket off the dribble," said Neighbors.
Sabb averaged 7.2 ppg and 3 rebounds last season while hitting on 56.2% (90-160) from the floor.
Kashiff Carr, (SO) 6-foot-5 (205) from Philadelphia. Carr transferred in this summer from Miami-Dade College. Carr averaged 15.9 ppg and 4.7 rebounds last year for the Sharks.
"Carr can play multiple positions on the floor. Kashiff has big time ability to score the ball and is a great defender," said Neighbors.
Houston, LSU and Nebraska are all showing early interest on him this fall. Carr will take an official visit to Houston this weekend. Houston has already offered Carr according to Neighbors.
Antoine Brown, (SO) 6-foot-3 (185) from Philadelphia. Brown will be a D2/NAIA player because of the five year rule according to Neighbors. Brown played for Neighbors at Independence Community College in Kansas back in 2005-2006. Neighbors was the assistant coach for the Pirates that season. Brown averaged 9.3 ppg, 3.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists for the Pirates that season.
"Brown, a point guard, is a great floor general," said Neighbors.
Warren Chapman, (SO) 6-foot-3 (195) from Augusta, GA. Chapman started his college career off at Holmes Community College in Mississippi back in the 2005-2006 season.
"Warren is a combo guard who has the ability score the ball in bunches," said Neighbors.
JucoJunction will see the Roadrunners this October in Dallas, TX at the Mullen/Mitchell Juco Jamboree.
