2009 focus: Ohlone College

The Ohlone College Rengades in Fremont, CA are looking to improve on last season. Head coach John Peterson has a solid nucleus of sophomores this year to improve on a (20-11) season from last year. JucoJunction had a chance to look at some of the Renegades players for this year in this story.
Frank Monge, (SO) 6-foot-11 (237) from Puerto Rico, will be a third year player this coming season. Frank started his college career at the University of Rhode Island. Monge was hurt four games into the season last year and had menicus surgery.

"Frank has put on 30 pounds of muscle since April," said Peterson.
Monge played in 17 games at Rhode Island back in 2006-2007.
Alpha N'Diaye, (SO) 6-foot-8 (215) from Mali, Africa, averaged 5 ppg and 4.7 rebounds last season for the Renegades. Alpha has really only played one year of organized basketball according to Peterson.
"Alpha is a high major athlete, he has added 15 pounds to his frame since coming back from visiting his mother in Mali. While in Mali he got malaria and his now just getting back to full strength," said the coach.
N'Diaye has a 7'1 wingspan.
James Hancock, (SO) 6-foot-6 (240), is a strong and skilled power forward. Hancock averaged 12.6 ppg and 6.2 rebounds last year for the Renegades.
A.J. Flournoy, a (SO) 6-foot-2 (200) combo guard, hails from San Diego. A.J. played last year at New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, NM. Flournoy averaged 6.2 ppg and 2.6 rebounds for the Thunderbirds.
"A.J. is a high major athlete and a great on the ball defender," said Peterson.
Eric Pitts, (SO) 6-foot-2 (205), is a solid lefthanded wing player. Pitts averaged 8.1 ppg last season.
"Eric is one of the stronger guards in the northern part of the state," said Peterson.
JucoJunction will see the Renegades in action in November this season.
