A Closer Look at Cecils Chadwick

UMass dipped into the JUCO ranks recently by signing 6-2 combo guard Chris Chadwick of Cecil C.C. in Northeast, Md.
JUCO Junction recently caught up with Cecil Head Coach Bill Lewit, and he gave us a better perspective into what Chadwick may be able to add to the Minuteman program next winter.

"UMass was looking for an older, more mature combo guard," Lewit explained. "He is Steve Lappas' first JC recruit ever, and they are looking for him to play 20-25 minutes a game."
"He gives them some balance," Lewit continued. "He can create his own shot and be a ball handler out there who can create for others."
Wright State and West Virginia also courted Chadwick, who averaged 14.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game for the Seahawks in 2002-2003. The native of Union, N.J. shot 48 percent from the floor, 40 percent beyond the arc and 79 percent on free throws.
Chadwick was a first team All-Region selection and won MVP honors of the Region XX Tournament. He was also first team All-Maryland JUCO.
The Seahawks finished 27-7 in 2002-2003 and reached the Final Four of the NJCAA Tournament in Danville, Ill., this past March.
Chadwick will have two years of eligibility remaining at UMass.
