Like many juco players, Jerome Habel is hoping his second shot at Division One ball has a happy ending. Habel originally signed with Florida State out of high school as a four-star prospect. After a sophomore season in which he averaged 18 points and nine rebounds, Habel surprised some by staying in California to play for Steve Fisher at San Diego State.
Habel is ranked as the second-best juco prospect in the land by JucoJunction.
Five to Watch
Aaron Agnew: After playing his freshman season at Iowa State, the big man went the juco route. He'll try it again, this time around at Robert Morris.
Gijo Bain: Coming off a loaded Northeast Nebraska team where he played with Cyrus Tate, Bain will have another highly regarded power forward alongside him in the frontcourt. The Eagles also signed Southeastern Illinois standout Demar Dotson.
Stanley Billings: Originally thought to be bound for New Orleans, Billings decided instead on Central Florida. He is much older than most incoming juniors due to some time in the military and will have to be a man among boys for the Knights.
James Davis: One of the top prospects in the class, there seemed to be questions of whether Davis would make it or not. Lamar fans will like what they see next season.
Kenny Williams: Speaking of questions of qualifying, Williams was once bound for Kansas State. It was reported that he would not be able to go Division One due to academics, but in late April, Williams signed with Ole Miss.
Five Sleepers
Shawn Taylor at Louisiana Tech, Esmir Rizvic at Texas Tech, Jeral Davis at Marshall, Abray Milson at Louisiana-Lafayette and Abdullahi Kuso at Gonzaga.
