Analysis of the 2006 SG class

Nearly 100 (by our count) from junior colleges signed Division One letters of intent for the Class of 2006. JucoJunction is ready to break down that class. We will highlight a few of the big happenings on the two guard front in this class.

Alphabetically, Blake Young is the last shooting guard listed on our pages of shooting guards. Everywhere else, he's much higher than that.
Young was one of the first recruiting coups for new Kansas State Bob Huggins, and don't expect the Cats to be done recruiting the juco ranks after Huggins' first year. He made a living out of it at Cincinnati. Young is rated in the top ten players in the nation by JucoJunction in this class and could play both guard spots for the Wildcats. Look for him to step into the starting lineup immediately in Manhattan and make a big impact in the Big 12.
Five to Watch
These aren't necessarily the five best players in the class. But other than Young, here are five guys you might want to watch to make a big impact next season
Bryson Graham: Have you seen what Billy Gillispie has done at Texas A&M? The man takes good players and makes them better. Graham can step in alongside Acie Law and provide big-time backcourt help as the Aggies look to challenge the Big 12's elite.
Tyler Smith: The Region IX player of the year chose to stay in the state of Colorado and will suit up for the CSU Rams. With looks from the likes of Texas Tech and Oklahoma, this is a big-time get for CSU. He signed with DePaul out of high school and Smith could be a major player in looking to lead Colorado State back to the dance.
Eddie Miller: Miller is going coast to coast as he commutes from Maryland to Fresno State. He was in our top 50 in the nation in the pre-season and could be a big impact player out west.
Andre Smith: He'll go from Cochise out to George Mason. Do you want to question Jim Larranaga's ability to evaluate talent? Neither do we.
Rob McKiver: McKiver can fill it up and should be a good fit for Tom Penders' style. The Cougars got a good one when they convince McKiver to stay in the Lone Star State.
Five Sleepers
These guys may not be going to the high-majors and may not have gotten the headlines the others did. But they could be very good players at the next level.
Ryan McBride: A three-star player out of California who was fairly highly regarded, McBride could be a great get for McNeese State.
Odarien Bassett: Okaloosa-Walton has turned out plenty of talent and Bassett is a good one. Troy University may have pulled off quite a coup.
Jeffery Henfield: Henfield's juco coach called him the team MVP and that's pretty impressive considering the team he played on. He can line up next to Jamaal Smith and New Mexico fans should like their new backcourt.
Tron Smith: We don't really know much about his game, but we love the name. Remember that cool movie and video game from the early eighties?
Jarvis Nichols: A late signee, some schools weren't willing to wait for the grades to come out. Northern Illinois may have gotten a good one late.
