Antelope Valley has top talent

Head Coach Dieter Horton had a great season at Antelope Valley in his first year at the Lancaster school. The Marauders finished the season 31-7 and state runnerup. AVC lost to Fresno City 90-77 in the state championship. Horton was trying to be just the second coach in California Juco History to win state championships back to back with two different programs. The only one to accomplish this feat is the legendary Jerry Tarkanian at Riverside CC and Pasadena CC. Coach Horton gave JucoJunction a rundown on his players' recruitment today.
Adeola Dagunduro: (SO) 6-foot-5 (190) from Inglewood, CA.

"I think he's the best player in the state. He's the most talented kid I have ever had," said Horton.
Ade played his freshman season at Mt. San Antonio back in 2004-2005 where he averaged 12.7 ppg and 5.8 rebounds per outing. Horton found Ade in a gym class at AVC after taking over the job last March. He had been enrolled part-time in classes at the time.
"Ade has a great medium range game and is great off the dribble," said Horton.
Dagunduro was a 1st team All State selection and 1st team All Foothill Conference performer this past season. The very versatile guard has been offered by Nebraska, Penn State, UNLV and Miami (FL). Ade averaged 17.3 ppg , 8.7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2.5 steals this past season for the Marauders. Ade's brother, Ola, played at Nebraska as a defensive lineman on the football team.
Marcellus Robertson: (SO) 6-foot-7 (240) from Robertson attended Saddleback CC back in 2003-2004. The super skilled power forward will not graduate from AVC.
"Marcellus has great post moves and really knows how to play the game. He can really knock down the 15 footer. Southern Indiana, Kentucky Wesleyan, Missouri Western and NAIA power Oklahoma City are all over Robertson. Marcellus shot 52.4% (155-296) from the floor this season while averaging 11.2 ppg and 8.5 rebounds.
Robert Arnold: (FR) 6-foot-6 (170) from Lancaster, CA. Robert is guard that can play all three positions.
"Robert is the best freshman I have had since Romel Beck," said Horton. Beck played at Fullerton College before moving onto LA City as a sophomore, and later to UNLV. Arnold averaged 14.5 ppg and 4.3 rebounds this past season.
Chawn Johnson: (FR) 6-foot-9 (235) from Lancaster, CA. Johnson redshirted last season at Montana State. Chawn has been enrolled in college for 4 fulltime semesters
and will come back to AVC next season and play. Johnson didn't get cleared to play until Christmas 2006 this past season. Johnson just averaged 2.5 ppg and 2.8 rebounds in limited action for the Marauders.
Jacobe Shannon: (FR) 6-foot-1 (180) from Baton Rouge, LA. Shannon is the point guard that runs this club. The 2005 high school graduate of Glen Oaks HS in Baton Rouge was a former teammate of USC basketball player Ryan Francis.
"Jacobe is a solid point guard that must improve on his perimeter game," said Horton. He has won 67 games in two seasons. His high school team was 36-0 his senior season.
