Cochise College is located near the Mexico border in southern Arizona. Longtime head coach Jerry Carrillo has the Camp Apache tribe ready to go this coming season in the ACCAC Conference.
Matt Korcheck has seen plenty of interest this summer and fall according to Carrillo. The local product from Tucson, Ariz. played this past summer at Jerry Mullen's JUCO Camp in St Charles, Mo.
"Matt is getting a lot of interest right now anywhere from Pittsburgh, Marquette, UTEP, Oklahoma, Western Kentucky and Auburn," said Carrillo. JucoJunction did see a staff member from Pittsburgh and Marquette in attendance but wasn't really paying to much attention otherwise.
Korcheck averaged 8.3 points and 6 rebounds per game last season while shooting 64 percent (117-183) from the floor for the Apaches. "Matt is a very athletic young man who's 6-foot-9 that can really run the floor quite well," said JucoJunction Publisher Bret Swanson.
Nathan Sobey really made a good impression on JucoJunction with his timely shooting and overall savvy for the game. The guard/wing prospect from Victoria, Australia averaged 7.9 points and 3 rebounds per game last season for the Apaches. Sobey shot 39 percent (30-76) from 3-point range last year as a freshman.
The Apaches are looking to staying at the top of Region 1 this season with the likes of Central Arizona College, Eastern Arizona College and Arizona Western College.
Stay tuned to JucoJunction all year long for the latest from Region 1 to Region 24 and beyond right here on your source for junior college basketball recruiting news.
