Artichoke duo hungry to impress

Last season, Scottsdale Community College advanced all the way to the Region I Division II title game before falling short. One of the main reasons for that push was freshman Justin Ashbaugh. Ashbaugh nearly averaged a double double for the Fighting Artichokes.
"He's not a flashy performer, but he gets things done," said head coach Paul Eberhardt. "He was a 1st Team All-Region player last year after averaging 14.5 pts and 9.2 rebs per game. Led the team in scoring and rebounding on a team the was region runner-up. He will play much more at the 2 for us this season."

The 6-foot-5 Ashbaugh is already being recruited by North Dakota State, Montana State and Idaho State. Teammate Jahiah Porter should provide Asbaugh some help down low.
"He is a skilled big man that can run and finish," Eberhardt said. "He shoots well to three point range. Has some work to do in the classroom, but is a very solid mid level four man. He is currently flying under the radar having sat out last season."
With a year of seasoning, the Artichokes should be in good shape with Porter and Ashbaugh leading the way.
