AWC big man is a Husker
Arizona Western College in Yuma, AZ is usually near the Top of Region 1 year after year. The Matadors recently had one of their players make an early pledge for next season. JucoJunction has the latest on this post player's decision in this article.
Brazilian big man Andre Almeida is off to play for the Nebraska Cornhuskers of the Big 12 Conference next season, according to reports in both the Lincoln Journal Star and the Yuma Sun. Almeida visited the Cornhuskers late last month. Andre averaged 13.7 ppg and 8 rebounds last season for the Matadors.

University of Nebraska assistant coach Walter Roese was the key factor in Almeida's recruitment. Almeida was the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference player of the year a season ago.
Almeida didn't play in the Arizona Community College Jamboree back on October 3rd at Phoenix College. Look for the Matadors to be towards the top this season with the likes of Cochise College and Eastern Arizona College.
