Bakersfield sophomore headed to Metro State

Bakersfield College sophomore Lawrence Billings (Visalia, CA – Redwoods High School) has signed a letter of intent to Metropolitan State College of Denver. Billings was a two-year player for the Renegades.
He averaged six points, four rebounds, and one block this past year for the 30-3 Renegades. This is the fourth player from last year's team that has signed a scholarship to a four-year institution.

Metro State is a Division II school that plays in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Roadrunners were 28-4 this past year.
Coach Rich Hughes: "This is a great accomplishment for Lawrence. When he arrived here (Bakersfield College) he had very little experience playing organized basketball, and now he will continue his athletic career at one of the most dominant D-2 programs in the country. Lawrence is a true success story of how community college can be used as a stepping board to achieve your goals."
