The Bears have 11 players averaging over six points per game and only one player averaging in double digits. Malachi Leonard and Sandy Burgos are two sophomores on the Bears team.
Leonard is a third year player and a native of York, Penn. who sat out last season after playing his freshman season at Tallahassee Community College. Leonard is currently averaging 8.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game this season while shooting 61 oercent from the floor. Leonard took a visit earlier this fall to North Carolina A&T and walked away with a scholarship offer.
The combo forward will have two years to play at the next level.
Sandy Burgos is ranked No. 148 in the 2012 JucoJunction Top 150. The guard from Fort Lee, N.J. is currently off to a slow start for the Bears. He is only averaging 8.5 points after averaging 14 points per game last season.
Freshman Darian Barnes is a very exciting freshman to keep an eye on for the Bears. Barnes is currently averaging 9.1 points and 6.7 rebounds this season. "Darian can really change a game on both ends of the floor with his extremely long wingspan and ability to alter shots," said JucoJunction Publisher Bret Swanson.
The Bears are looking to make that next step in school history and that's to get to Hutchinson, Kan. in March.
