Bears have balance

JucoJunction touched base today with Southwest Mississippi Community College Head Coach Casey Carter on a few of his players. The Bears (13-7) prepare to play Pearl River Community College this evening.

The Bears had a set back in September 2012 when Herbert Harrison broke his foot. The combo forward transferred into Southwest Mississippi Community College this past summer from UAB. Harrison played his high school basketball at Covenant ChristianAcademy in Marietta, Ga.
Harrison will redshirt this season for the Bears and have three years to play at the NCAA Division One level next season.
Deville Smith played last season in the SEC Conference at Mississippi State University where he averaged 4.2 ppg in 26 games for the Bulldogs.
Smith a point guard from Jackson, MS is currently averaging 15.4 ppg and 6 assists this season. Smith has heard interest from Washington State, DePaul and UNLV this spring according to Carter.
Donovan Ross is another NCAA Division One transfer from SE Louisiana. Ross a combo forward is hearing from Lousiana-Monroe, New Orleans, SE Louisiana and Northwestern State this spring.
Ross is averaging 15.2 ppg and 4.6 rebounds this season while shooting 69% from the floor.
Mark Bridgewater is a shooting guard from Hammond, La. Bridgewater is averaging 12.8 points this season for the Bears. Troy University, SE Louisiana and Louisiana Monroe have made contact with Bridgewater this spring according to Carter.
