Bears looking to get back

JucoJunction attended the University of Southern Indiana this past weekend and the Rick Ball JUCO Jamboree. The Mott Community College Bears are no strangers when it comes to post season play under longtime head coach Steve Schmidt. Read more about the Bears right here on your source for junior college basketball recruiting news.
The Bears will look for John Taylor to lead the team back to the NJCAA D2 National Tourney in Danville, Ill. next March. Taylor last played during the 2009-2010 at Chipola College where he averaged 8.8 points and 2 rebounds per game for the Indians. The Chicago, Ill. native attended North Lawndale Prep.

Taylor told JucoJunction he attended Rust College in Holly Springs, Miss. during the 2010-2011 season but didn't play basketball. "John is very shifty with the ball and really has the ability to pile up some points in a hurry," said JucoJunction Publisher Bret Swanson.
Walter Davis will look to improve on his 2.2 point per game average from last season. The Memphis, Tenn. native will be called on more since the graduation of several sophomores. "Walter is a very active player on the floor that really plays a lot bigger on the glass," said Swanson.
The Bears were missing two players this past weekend at USI while playing in the jamboree. The Bears lost to two-time defending champ Lincoln College last season in the NJCAA Championship game. The Bears won the title three times during the Schmidt era in 2003, 2007 and 2008.
Stay tuned to JucoJunction all season long for the latest in basketball recruiting news from over the Midwest to the west coast.
