Beck took spring trips to UNLV, Wyoming and Fresno State prior to signing with the Rebels, Miller said.
Illinois, Alabama and Auburn were among other major Division I programs who expressed interest in Beck this spring.
"Romel brings a lot of scoring ability to UNLV," Miller said. "He can score in a lot of different ways, and he's a good team player who makes others better."
A native of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Beck attended Etiwanda H.S. in Orange County prior to enrolling at Fullerton College as a freshman in 2000-2001. He transferred to L.A. City the following year and sat out the 2001-2002 season.
As a sophomore this season on a state title squad, Beck averaged 15.6 points per game, shooting 54 percent from the floor, 41 percent beyond the arc and 74 percent from the free throw line.
A versatile player with a smooth overall floor game, Beck will have two years of eligibility at UNLV.
