Blinn full of Division One talent

Blinn College has been a consistent producer of Division One talent under coach Steve Spurlin. Do not expect that to change this season. Leading the way for Blinn in 2006-07 is Allegany (MD) transfer Eric Whitehurst.
"Eric must get stronger for that next level," Spurlin said.

But many college coaches obviously think he can. Whitehurst already has offers from Marquette and Charlotte and has visited both school. Georgetown, UNLV, Texas A&M and Nebraska are also expressing interest. Whitehurst is an athletic forward who averaged eight points and 7.5 rebounds a season ago.
Tyson Johnson is playing at Blinn this year after appearing in 17 games at Monmouth University a season ago. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound Johnson is the opposite of Whitehurst. He needs to lose some weight before playing at the next level.
Eastern Oklahoma transfer Darnell Hugee could be termed as a player that might not be a high-major prospect, but is a high-major athlete. Hugee is an undersized power forward.
In the Class of 2008, Blinn will also have a player worth watching. 6-foot-8 Matt Walden came to Blinn from Rise Academy in Philadelphia and will merit some attention next year due to his skill level and rebounding ability.
