Brunswick big man makes a commitment

With as many as seven Division One players on his roster, Brunswick Community College coach Walter Shaw figures to be busy this spring. But 6-foot-8 Lorenzo Burgess has saved his coach a little bit of time.
"Lorenzo Burgess committed to Charleston Southern," Shaw reported. "It's a good situation for him. They're very close to his home in South Carolina."

One of the Charleston assistants was a head coach in Brunswick's league last year and recruited Burgess throughout the last 12 months.
"They got to see him pretty extensively," Shaw said. "They saw him against Cape Fear who had two 6-10 guys. Lorenzo had 19 points and ten boards in that one. He showed that he could score against bigger guys and outrebound those players."
The rest of the team, other than freshman P.J. Gore, who will play D2 next season, will wait until after the year to make decisions. That includes leading scorer Curtis Williams.
"his recruiting is really starting to pick up. He's got some Atlantic 10 schools, some Conference USA, Colonial," Shaw said. "He's also gotten offers from Campbell, Coastal Carolina and Towson."
Brunswick currently stands 19-and-10 on the season.
