Brunswick is loaded once again

Head coach Walter Shaw will be entering his 8th year of being the head man for the Brunswick Community College Dolphins in Supply, NC this season. Brunswick was (20-9) last season with 12 freshmen in the program.
"This year's team is the deepest team I have ever had here at Brunswick," said Shaw.

Not bad taking in consideration there is no gym on campus and no scholarships for this D1 program in Region 10. The Dolphins play their home games and practice at a local high school. Shaw has compiled a 140-70 record over his career at Brunswick Community College. JucoJunction had a chance to talk to Coach Shaw about this year's
squad.
Leon Spencer: (SO) 6-foot-7 (215) from Charlotte, NC. Spencer sat out last season and took classes part-time at Brunswick. Leon averaged 11.6 ppg, 6.2 rebounds and shot 67.7% (145-214) from the floor in 2005-2006.
"I compare Leon to a 4-man Shawn Marion. He must work on his jump shot, but he is a super athlete that rebounds well out of his area. Leon is a great finisher and is ideal in a fast paced offense," said Shaw.
Spencer has already received offers from Winthrop, Appalachian State, Towson, UNC-Greensboro, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Arkansas State and Arkansas-Little Rock. He has no visits lined up at this current time.
Montarrio Haddock: (SO) 6-foot-4 (220) from Greenville, NC. Haddock averaged 16.7 ppg and 6.9 rebounds last season for the Dolphins. The first team all conference performer as a freshman will visit East Carolina on September 14-15. East Carolina, Winthrop, Middle Tennessee State and Coastal Carolina have offered Haddock. Montarrio has also received interest from Wichita State, St Joe's (PA) and Appalachian State.
"Montarrio is a high-major talent that is a big tough guard" said Shaw.
Montel Smith: (SO) 6-foot-0 (182) from Greenville, NC. Smith sat out at Missouri State-West Plains back in the 2005-2006 as a part-time student. Montel averaged
9.3 ppg and 4.2 assists last season for the Dolphins running the point guard position.
"Montel is a tough-nosed kid that can create his own shot," said Shaw.
Smith will take a official visit to Gardner-Webb on September 7-9. Gardner-Webb has already offered Montel while UNC-Greensboro has expressed interest in him.
C.J. Hailey: (SO) 6-foot-1 (195) from Charlotte, NC. The left-handed combo guard carries a 3.4 GPA in the classroom. Hailey averaged 14.8 ppg and 3.7 rebounds last season while making 2nd team All-Conference. Arkansas-Little Rock, Liberty, Middle Tennessee State and Coastal Carolina have expressed interest in Hailey.
Josh Jones: (SO) 6-foot-8 (230) from Greenville, NC.
"Josh is a high post four man that's very skilled that prefers to play faceup to the basket," said Shaw.
The left-handed Jones averaged 2.2 ppg last season and 2 rebounds.
JucoJunction will have a chance to see the Dolphins this October at Kenn Littlefield's JUCO Jamboree in Atlanta on October 20.
