Brunswick with three more in 2007

Despite working without the benefit of athletic scholarships, Walter Shaw has managed to turn Brunswick Community College into a good stopping off point for Division One basketball players. Shaw has a sophomore class of three that should get attention on the D1 level in the class of 2007.
Cliff Burns: "He is strong, can hit the jump hook with both hands and post strong inside. He runs the floor well, is very active and fundamentally sound." Shaw classifies the 6-foot-8 Burns as a mid-major prospect.

Derek Gillam: "He moves well and can guard smaller players. He is extremely long. He was a qualifier academically out of high school, though he will be returning for his sophomore season." Shaw compared Gillam to a less-developed Luke Schenscher and said he is a low-to mid-major player.
Leon Spencer: "He is extremely explosive, rebounds well and can shoot out to three point range. He dunks everything in the lane. He's a face-up four, three who can become a big three man with repetition." Spencer is the headliner of this class, already getting looks from the likes of Charlotte and UNC-Wilmington.
"All three of these guys were in a six-man post rotation as freshmen," Shaw said. "They played behind two sophomores that went on to the D1 level. Spencer was the highest scorer of all our post players."
Shaw said he has also signed five freshmen who are academically qualified and eligible to leave after this season if they get scholarship offers.
