Within the last week however the first year Bulldogs coach has picked up two pledges. The latest commitment comes from Mineral Area (Mo.) Community College three-star power forward Quantel Denson.
"Coach Ray was happy when I called and committed," Denson said. "He told me he'd do everything he could to help me with my future and that I'd get a good education."
The 6-foot-8, 225-pounder was once a Missouri commitment and spent last season at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College and transferred to Mineral Area where he will play this year. Denson will have three years of eligibility once he arrives in Starkville.
Denson also had offers from Marquette, Missouri, Oklahoma State and Western Kentucky but seems happy to be a Bulldog.
"Their coaching staff seems smart and I think they can help me with my game," Denson said. "I had a good time there last weekend and enjoyed the campus. I liked everything especially the practice facility. Coach Ray is straight with you and thing he is going to do good things at Mississippi State."
