California guard to the SEC

Mount San Jacinto College in Hemet, CA had a good season at 23-10 under head coach Patrick Springer. The Eagles were led in scoring by a former Division One transfer who decided to end his recruitment today. JucoJunction has the latest on where this Eagles' guard decided to spread his wings to next season in the SEC Conference.
Melvin Goins, (SO) 5-foot-11 (195), will be playing at the University of Tennessee next season according to coach Springer.

"Melvin visited Tennessee this past weekend," said Springer.
Goins played his freshman season at Ball State University before deciding to transfer to Mount San Jacinto this year. Goins prepped at Christian Life Center in Humble,TX. Melvin averaged 17.4 ppg, 5 assists and 2 steals this year for the Eagles.
Goins received interest from Kentucky, Cincinnati and Nebraska this spring. Melvin had a season high of 28 points versus the College of the Desert back in conference play. Goins' teammate Mark Williams, (SO) 5-foot-10 from Wilmington, DE, will need to go the D2/NAIA route according to coach Springer. Williams averaged 12.5 ppg and 3.2 assists from the point guard position. Williams prepped at Philadelphia Lutheran Christian a few seasons back.
