Carpenter Relocates; Makes Early Commitment

Andrew Carpenter, a 6-2, 180 pound shooting/combo guard from Daytona Beach, has committed to the University of Denver.
Bret Swanson of Swanny's Roundball Review confirmed the commitment with Daytona Beach Head Coach Brad Underwood on Tuesday.

JUCO Junction caught up with Underwood on Tuesday evening. He said that Carpenter visited Denver from Sept. 12-14, and was also being looked at by Florida A&M and Troy State this fall.
"Andrew does everything well, but nothing great," Underwood said. "He shoots it, handles it, and is athletic. He has a strong body, and he defends and finishes well."
Carpenter spent last year at Dixie State College in St. George, Ut., where he averaged 2.5 points and 1.1 rebounds per contest for the Rebels.
A native of Toronto, Carpenter appeared in 29 of 36 games for Dixie State, starting four contests. He shot 43 percent from the floor and 28 percent beyond the three point arc.
According to Coach Underwood, Carpenter was a part of the regular rotation at Dixie last season until he went out with an injury. When he got back from injury, he found it tough to crack the line up for the Rebels, who finished third at the NJCAA Tournament last March.
One thing that Carpenter needs to work on is developing a midrange jump shot, Underwood said.
"Andrew has a very good feel for the game of basketball," the coach added.
Carpenter, who is expected to graduate in the spring, will ink with Denver next month during the NCAA early signing period.
