Chaps star signs in Sun Belt

Midland College in Midland, TX just recently named Ross Hodge as the new boss of the Chaps basketball team. Former Head Coach Grant McCasland has moved onto NCAA Division Two program Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX. The Chaps finished second this season to Salt Lake Community College after losing in the NJCAA National Championship game in March in Hutchinson, KS. JucoJunction found out last night that one of the remaining Chaps post players decided to end his recruitment after signing with a Sun Belt Conference School.
Kavon Lytch will attend Florida International University this season according to Redlands Community College assistant coach Kenneth Gordon and fellow Redlands Community College player Antoine Watson. Watson signed with the Golden Panthers last month and was a former teammate of Lytch when he attended Redlands Community College during the 2007-2008 season as a freshman. Lytch averaged 17.7 ppg and 9.2 rebounds this past season while shooting 66% (232-352) from the floor for the Chaps.
Lytch, a Brooklyn, NY native, started his college career at New Mexico Junior College in the Fall of 2006, but didn't play there. Kavon saw his recruitment all over the board this spring from Seton Hall to Cincinnati to DePaul. Lytch will now join four other junior college players at Florida International University for next season under new head coach Isaiah Thomas.
