Chipola Pair Swings Out for Official Visits

Chipola brought its team to a junior college basketball jamboree on Saturday, but two frontcourt players weren't around for the Indians' final game at 6 p.m.
That's because 6-9 power forward/center Shawn Malloy and 6-4 power forward Leon Woodstock left the jamboree to go on official visits.

JUCO Junction confirmed with Chipola Head Coach Chris Jans on Saturday that Malloy would be at the University of New Orleans and that Woodstock would be at High Point University. Both Woodstock and Malloy played in a pair of the Indians'games on Saturday at Clayton State University in Morrow, Ga., before departing for Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta.
According to Jans, Woodstock is actively considering High Point, Winthrop and Division II Barry University.
As for Malloy, UNO is the one serious program on his list at this juncture.
"I think a lot of people are waiting to see if he pulls the trigger," Jans said of Malloy.
Should Malloy opt to sign late, it's conceivable that many more schools will take a look at the Raeford, N.C., native, this winter.
Woodstock is a burly, undersized power player who works hard on the offensive glass and scores quite a bit on loose change around the bucket. He has decent low post moves with his back to the basket, and brings a lot of intangibles to the table. He's not afraid to give up his body on defense or dive for the loose ball, yet he's limited from a size (height) and athleticism standpoint.
Malloy's body has filled out a bit since we last saw him as a freshman at Butler County C.C. in Kansas. Now listed at 230 pounds, Malloy is clearly a higher level prospect than his teammate Woodstock; that said, Woodstock probably got a lot more done this past weekend for Chipola at the jamboree.
Malloy tends to play a finesse game, and he can disappear for stretches while he's in the contest. He's pretty agile and moves well for his size, but he needs to play with more aggressiveness and intensity.
If either Woodstock or Malloy opts to sign early, JUCO Junction will let you know via a follow-up report.
