Chipola reloads for another run

JucoJunction will be out on the road throughout the month of October attending to Juco Jamborees from Iowa City to Jersey City, NJ. JucoJunction will first see the Chipola College Indians in Dallas, TX at the Mitchell-Mullens Dallas Blowout. Here are a few of the standouts from Chipola:

Clevin Hannah: (SO) 6-foot-0 (160) from Holly Springs, MS. Hannah is just three classes away from graduation after transferring over from Paris JC (TX). Hannah averaged 10.3 ppg and 4.3 assists last season at Paris JC (TX).

"Clevin is very unselfish and has great leadership qualities," said head coach Greg Heiar.

Wichita State, Middle Tennessee State, South Alabama and Iowa have shown early interest on the point guard.

Malik Alvin: (SO) 5-foot-10 (185) from Philadelphia, PA. Alvin transfers in from UTEP where he played in 31 games last season for the Miners while starting 20 of

them. Alvin averaged 8 ppg and 4.5 assists while playing 24 minutes a night.

"Malik is a north-south guard who is extremely fast to the rim," said Heiar.

The combo guard has received some early interest from Kent State, Binghamton and South Alabama.

Mario Edwards: (SO) 6-foot-3 (190) from Massillon, OH.

"Mario can the play the 1-3 positions for us. He really has a great knowledge for the game and he's our glue-guy," said Heiar.

Edwards averaged 4.5 ppg last year for the Indians.

"Mario brings a lot of versatility to our club. He can guard 1-4 on the floor," said Heiar.

Coastal Carolina, Central Michigan, Georgia State, Indiana State and South Alabama have shown interest in Edwards this summer.

Skyler Williams: (SO) 6-foot-0 (190) from East Dublin, GA.

"Skyler is like a strong safety in football. He is a game-changer. Skyler makes big shots, defends the passing lane with deflections, rebounds, takes charges," said Heiar.

Williams averaged 4.7 ppg last season. Troy, Kennesaw State, Lamar and South Florida are following him.

Joey Cameron: (SO) 6-foot-8 (240) from Leeds, AL. Cameron has already been to Auburn and Seton Hall. Joey enrolled at Chipola back in January 2007. Joey must graduate and need 60% towards his degree to graduation next spring.

"Joey is an angle guy that can score on the low block and sets ball screens and rebound out of his area on the floor. Joey understands his role on this team," said Heiar.

The 4/5 man has received early interest from Georgia State, UAB, South Alabama and UNLV.

Vernon Teel, Gary Flowers and Antwon Hall all will be getting plenty of playing time this season also at Chipola College. Teel, 6-foot-2, is a transfer from Long Island University where he sat out last season after prepping at Laurinburg Institute (NC). Flowers, 6-foot-8 is a transfer from Oklahoma State where he did not play last season and is a Dallas native. Hall (SO)is 6-foot-5 (205) from Cottonwood, FL and is a transfer from Lurleen B Wallace CC (AL) where he played in 2004-2005. Teel and Flowers are capable of getting out after this season and having three years left to play at

the D1 level. Hall must go the D2-NAIA route.
