Clock Issue to Keep Gary Out of D-I Ranks

Hutchinson's Brandon Gary put up the kind of numbers last winter that would typically spark high major recruiting interest, but the 6-6 small/combo forward is likely to be a prime D-II or NAIA recruiting target this year.
Due to an NCAA clock issue, Gary will not be able to enroll at a Division I program in the fall of 2004, Hutch Asst. Coach Eric Duft told JUCO Junction.

Gary began his college education during the 2000-2001 school year when he enrolled at Drexel University. His plan was to sit out at Drexel that year, but he wound up leaving and detouring to Panola J.C. in Texas for a part of the 2001-2002 school year.
This past year, Gary resurfaced at Hutchinson, where he averaged 16.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. He shot 46 percent from the floor, 41 percent on three pointers and 74 percent from the foul line.
"Brandon is very skilled," Duft said. "He can dribble, pass and shoot the basketball."
Gary has very long arms, which compensates for his lack of great hops. He's an opportunistic offensive player who can score in a lot of different ways.
He should become an elite recruiting target among the Division II and NAIA set, and you can count on JUCO Junction to keep you posted on Gary and other top prospects in the JC Class of 2004.
