Coffeyville ready for repeat run

The Coffeyville Red Ravens finished strong last season, making it all the way to the national junior college tournament and finishing seventh. Don't be all that surprised if Coffeyville is back in Hutch next March.
"We've got eight guys back that were part of things last year, seven that were on the team and then one that started for me the year before and had to redshirt because he separated his shoulder," said head coach Jay Herkelman. "With that kind of nucleus, those guys coming back, we're pretty excited."

Herkelman said five of his players have a shot to go Division One. We got a rundown on each:
"Barry Eberhardt is one of those. He is a forward from last year's team. He's a big, strong, very skilled player. He's gonna be one of the top forwards in the region."
"Aaron Jackson is one of our point guards, he can play a little two guard. He shoots it good, he's athletic, got great experience playing behind and with Boo Richardson. He's a little bigger than Boo. Boo had a lot of the intangible stuff that Aaron's got to learn. He is talented, he's a good shooter, strong with the ball. He's more athletic than Boo, but Boo was awfully good.
"Ja'Mal Stewart is 6-4, long left handed wing. He shoots it good to the three-point line, he's athletic, good rebounder. He is a small forward.
"Tarod Sanders is the guy I was telling you about that was injured. He started two years ago, separated his shoulder. He's 6-6, 255, a low-post guy that can shoot it out to 15 feet. He has good hands, good rebounder. He had to have surgery and it was May before he actually got released to do anything. He worked hard this summer, just knows how to play, knows what I like.
"Then we got a transfer from Georgia Perimeter, Marquis Washington. Marquis is 6-5, 190 really athletic wing, had a good year at GPC and transferred in here."
Herkelman also added a strong recruiting class led by Canadian guards Larry Duncan and Papa Oppong.
