Coming home

There is no place like home for a lot of players. Home means sometimes just close enough for family and friends to watch you play. Today one player decided to leave the Mountain West for the lovely city of Charleston. The College of Southern Idaho won the NJCAA National Championship this past March and finished the season at 32-4 under head coach Steve Gosar. Darius Smith was a player on that the squad from the Windy City of Chicago, I.L. The former UCONN Transfer will now play at Eastern Illinois University this fall for the Panthers.

Smith averaged 8.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 3 steals per game this season in 29 minutes of action a night for the national champions. Smith played his high school basketball at John Marshall High School in Chicago.
Smith received interest this spring from Northern Illinois, Illinois-Chicago and Eastern Illinois. EIU Assistant Coach Barron Thelmon locked this one recruit down with his strong ties to the Windy City.
Smith is ranked No.87 this season in the JucoJunction Top 150.
