Assistant coach Odell Witherspoon touched base with JucoJunction on some happenings at the Panhandle Conference school recently.

"Javon Dawson is no longer going to Colorado State but has been released and now will attend the University of Utah next season," said Witherspoon.
Dawson, who sat out this season with an injury, will have three years to play for the Utes. Dawson will join up with new Utes assistant coach Demarlo Slocum who recruited him to Colorado State University.
Nikko Acosta (No.3 team photo) will be heading to the Southland Conference and Lamar University next fall according to Witherspoon. Acosta, a former Florida A&M transfer, prepped at Heat Academy in Martinsville, V.A. for a season before heading off to college.
Acosta averaged 6.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game this season while shooting 56 percent(70-126) from the floor for the 11-19 Commodores.
Jordan Payton (No.5 team photo) has signed with UMKC according to Witherspoon. Payton a journeyman from the prep ranks to Norfolk State will have two years to play for UMKC. Payton a California native averaged 10 points and 6.3 rebounds per game this season.
Look for the Commodores to make improvement heading into next season in the always rugged Panhandle Conference.
