Roberson was impressive back in March at the Region II Tournament in Shawnee, Okla. He nearly single-handedly led the Cowboys to the Region II crown. Only a last second shot by Redlands J.C. kept Roberson and Connors from a trip to Hutch.
Roberson, a lead guard with good scoring instincts, visited New Mexico State from May 2-4.
"Detrius was the best point guard in our region," Muse said. "He's real solid, a very good shooter who can defend."
"He gets really low on defense," Muse continued. "He got a lot better as a sophomore and the last 10 games of the season, he really elevated his game."
Roberson averaged 14 points and four assists per game. He impressed JUCO Junction back at the Region II Tournament in leading the Cowboys to a blow out victory over Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa.
Blessed with a strong frame, Roberson has a tricky handle and good scoring instincts. He will have two years of eligibility at New Mexico State.
