CSI guard adding offers

Two years ago, Ar'Mond Davis led Foss High School in Tacoma, WA, by scoring 26.3 points per game. He capped his career with a tournament record 32 ppg in the district tournament. But Davis' path to major college basketball was going to have to take a detour.
"I had some offers out of high school, but my SAT score wasn't high enough," Davis said. "I wouldn't say the same level of schools that's recruiting me now. I think some schools really shied away because of my test scores. I had a couple mid-major and low-major offers."

Davis enrolled at the College of Southern Idaho. As a freshman, he averaged 10.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game in just 17 minutes of action. That included five 20-point games. Davis' season-high was 23, which he scored in just 13 minutes of action against Westwind Prep.
"That year up there helped me a lot," Davis said. "Playing against those guys, most of them signed D1 out of high school, playing against them every day has just really helped my game."
Davis is a 6-foot-5, 190-pound shooting guard who believes his greatest strengths are his versatility and ability to score in a variety of ways. In his second go at recruiting, high-major schools have started to take notice. Davis claims offers from Nevada, Alabama, Iowa State, Penn State and Memphis. Offer No. 6 came in Monday from the Missouri Tigers and Kim Anderson.
"The head coach, he hit me up today and let me know," Davis said. "They'd already been recruiting me since right after they saw me in St. Louis for the (juco) top 100 camp and they saw me in Vegas for the all-American camp. He kept on recruiting me and I've been talking to multiple coaches from there."
While Davis says he is "open to everything," he is already starting to map out official visits starting in September.
"I know I'm gonna take a couple visits in September, two or three of them," he said. "I know for sure I want to take one to Missouri, I haven't got a date set up, I know I'm going to take one to Alabama too and I want to take one to Memphis too. My mom wants me to take one to Penn State so I'm going to take one to Penn State too."
Davis says he needs to get stronger during his sophomore year at CSI. But ask him about the strengths of his game and he doesn't hesitate.
"(Coaches) like how I can score the ball from anywhere on the floor. As soon as I step on the court I feel like I can score from anywhere. I got range that's different from anybody else because I can shoot from 40, 45 feet," Davis said. "Once I hit a couple nobody can guard me because I can go around them. I'm versatile and I can handle the ball too."
PowerMizzou.com will continue to follow Davis' recruitment.
