Daytona Beach guard still undecided

There aren't many junior college players from the Class of 2005 who have not already made their college choice. But we found one down at Daytona Beach Community College.
5-foot-10 guard Bennie Washington is still undecided.

"He still hasn't decided," said DBCC head coach Brad Underwood. "He visits Northwest Missouri and he's down to Northwest Missouri, Tuscaland, Wingate and Eastern New Mexico. He's down to those four."
Underwood said he anticipates a decision from Washington in the next couple of weeks. Unlike many junior college players who wait well into the summer, Washington's decision has nothing to do with academics.
"No, he's a fantastic student," Underwood said. "He has already graduated."
The news isn't so good for Washington's teammate Jack Jenkins. Earlier in the spring, JucoJunction.com reported that Jenkins had returned home to Boston to attend to some personal issues. Underwood said Jenkins never finished school and, therefore, would not be able to transfer to a Division One school next year.
"It's one of the most unfortunate, tragic situations I have ever seen," Underwood said.
Daytona Beach will be a major target for college recruiters in the Class of 2006. On Friday, JucoJunction.com will take a look at Underwood's team for next season and highlight some of the big names in the group.
