John DeGroat, the skilled 6-6, 215 pound small forward from Northeastern J.C. in Sterling, Colo., is slated to take his third and likely final official visit this weekend.
NJC Head Coach Brian Joyce informed JUCO Junction that DeGroat will be at Gonzaga from Sept. 26-28. One of Joyce's former players at Northeastern, guard Tony Skinner, was a senior for the Zags last winter.
Previously this fall, DeGroat tripped to Pittsburgh (Sept. 5-7) and Oklahoma (Sept. 12-14).
St. John's and Oregon have also been involved with DeGroat this fall, but he has opted not to visit either of those programs at this time.
DeGroat impressed JUCO Junction this past July at the Mullen JC Showcase in Tulsa. He has a nice feel for the game and a deft shooting stroke.
JUCO Junction will keep you abreast on DeGroat's situation until a decision is reached. Stay tuned.
