Early Leader Emerges for Lamars Hosley

Quinton Hosley, a versatile 6-7, 205 pound small forward/swingman from Lamar C.C. in Lamar, Colo., has three colleges atop his early list this fall.
JUCO Junction caught up with Lamar Head Coach Kris Baumann this week, and he gave us a run down on Hosley's recruitment.

Kansas State, Utah and Oregon have recruited Hosley the strongest thus far, with K-State forging an early lead in the recruiting race.
In addition to that trio, Oklahoma, St. John's, Wyoming and Lamar are also in the mix with Hosley.
Baumann said that Hosley won't take any official visits this fall and will likely sign in the spring.
With Hosley's decision was seven to eight months down the road, we asked Baumann if that would eventually hurt the current leaders in the recruiting process.
"I think those schools hold a lot of weight with Quinton," Baumann reflected. "Kansas State saw him early in his freshman year and has done a good job of recruiting him."
Hosley averaged 19 points, nine rebounds and four assists per game last year for the Runnin' Lopes.
Hosley didn't attend any JC events this past summer, but ventured instead back to New York City to play in some leagues. Hosley grew up in New York City but moved to Denver before he started high school.
JUCO Junction plans on catching Hosley during the 2003-2004 season, so we will keep you posted on his recruitment as the spring signing period gets closer and closer.
