East Mississippi on a roll

The Lions of East Mississippi Community College have been roaring past teams lately. The Lions have beaten teams by 41,26,33 and 45 in their last four games. The Lions are currently 14-2 on the season and 3-0 in conference play. Lions assistant Jeremy Shulman gave JucoJunction a rundown on some of his players' recruitment in this article.
Coco Ware is leading the charge for the Lions this season with a 18.6 ppg. Ware, 6-foot-1 (170), hails from Starkville, MS. Ware is an older kid at 24 years of age. Ware is currently in his seventh full-time semester and will only have one year of eligibility to play at the NCAA Division One level.

"Coco is the heart and soul of our team. He simply does it all on the court. Coco is every bit the pre-season All American that he was selected," said Shulman.
Ware has currently scored 834 points in his career at East Mississippi Community College spanning over 44 games. Mississippi Valley State, Grambling, Stephen F. Austin, Central Arkansas and Texas Pan American are recruiting Ware according to Shulman. Ware recently scored 38 points versus Marion Military and 32 points versus Bevill State.
Terence Bennett, (SO) 5-foot-11 (185), is a Jackson, MS native.
"Terence is a fierce defender, and almost impossible to stay in front of on offense. Terence has a great body and excellent quickness," said Shulman.
Jacksonville University and Nicholls State are showing interest in the point guard this spring according to Shulman.
Jonathan King and Chris Brand are two promising freshmen on the Lions roster this season. King, a Panama City, Panama native, is the younger brother of Daniel King at Western Oklahoma College. Brand is a local prospect from nearby Starkville High School.
"Jonathan is the ultimate warrior on the floor. Jonathan has great energy and is a tough matchup at times on the floor with his play," said JucoJunction staff analyst Bret Swanson.
Brand, 6-foot-9 (240), played high school basketball with former Memphis Tiger signee and now NBDL player Latavious Williams.
"Chris has great hands and great size and can really change a game on the defensive end," said Shulman.
The Lions have several other prospects in the freshman class that we will take a look at in the near future here at JucoJunction.
