Eleraky speaks, talks debut

First pledged to the Golden Bears back in May of 2012, Sami Eleraky's sojourn to the Bay Area has been riddled with complications.
Not long after declaring to California, Eleraky was judged a non-qualifier by the NCAA, meaning the 7-footer from Denmark would need to obtain an Associates Degree before joining the Division-I ranks.

Near 15-months later, and following a short stint at Barton Community College in Kansas, Eleraky appears to be back on track. He's enrolled at San Francisco City College, is reportedly performing well in his classes, and, on Thursday, will be back playing organized basketball.
That's the good news.
Less thrilling for Mike Montgomery and his staff, is that Eleraky isn't ready to affirm his commitment to California.
Largely mum since learning of the NCAA's ruling, on Tuesday GoldenBearReport caught up with the hard-to-reach hoopster.
"I don't really know what I'm going to do," he said. "It's all kind of up in the air at the moment."
Yes, he acknowledges, proximity to the Bears factored into the decision to enroll at SFCC, but he by no means considers 2012's pledge a standing commitment.
"I do like Coach Montgomery," admitted Eleraky. "He's good at working with big guys and I'm a big, so I like that, so we'll see."
But while other programs previously struggled to keep tabs on the nomadic 20-year old, Eleraky now appears to have settled on a blueprint, a fact that will almost certainly land him on various programs' radar.
"I should be done with my AA at [CC]SF by next summer," he says. "That's the plan."
As he's quick to point out, however, cementing a graduation timetable does not require that he set a decision date.
"I haven't really begun to think about when I'll decide," remarks Eleraky. "I'm just working on my game, right now." - See more at: http://cal.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1523574#sthash.l6TzgumQ.dpuf
