Farr Commits; Will Stay Out West

Lamar Farr, a 6-3, 205 pound combo guard from Northwest College in Powell, Wyo., has committed to Montana.
Bret Swanson of Swanny's Roundball Review tipped JUCO Junction to the commitment on Wednesday, and we also confirmed with Northwest Head Coach Ken Rochlitz.

"He had a different look in his eye when he got back from his visit to Montana," Rochlitz said. "They really did a good job recruiting him, it's a good fit and the players made him feel really wanted."
Rochlitz still said it was a tough decision for Farr, who also considered Utah State, Eastern Washington and Bradley in addition to the Grizzlies.
Farr averaged 13.3 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game last season for the Trappers.
"If there ever was a combo guard, he certainly is it," Rochlitz said. "He's strong enough to play the two or the three, but he passes it well enough to be a point guard. He's versatile."
Since hiring Pat Kennedy, Montana has struck gold in the JC ranks over the past two years. Last year, the Grizzlies signed Allen County's Roy Booker and Sheridan College's Kamarr Davis.
A native of Beloit, Wis., Farr took his final official visit to Bradley this month. Even though Bradley was much closer in location to his hometown, Farr opted to stay out west and continue his career in the Big Sky Conference.
"Because of his strength, Lamar has a big time Division I body," Rochlitz said. "He has the ability to get to the rim, and his perimeter shooting has improved and needs to continue to improve."
"Defensively, he can really get into people, because of his upper body strength," Rochlitz continued. "Since he has gotten here, he's probably improved defensively more than anywhere else."
Farr plans on inking with Montana next month during the NCAA early signing period. He will have two years of eligibility remaining for the Grizzlies.
