to an impressive 8-0 start. The Indians survived all three contests this
week without suspended star point guard Stefhon Hannah.
Daytona Beach continued their hot start this holiday weekend capturing the Battle at the Beach championship. The Falcons defeated South Georgia Tech, Palm Beach, and nationally ranked Schoolcraft to bring home the title. Blake Young continues to put up big numbers for DBCC and was named the MVP of the tournament.
Hillsborough has moved up to number 3 in the state coaches poll surpassing Miami Dade. HCC is now 9-0 on the season while Miami Dade suffered its first loss to Monroe College in the championship game of the Cape Fear Invitational in Wilmington, NC.
Rounding out the FCCAA coaches poll this week is Okaloosa-Walton, Tallahassee, St. Petersburg, Palm Beach, Santa Fe, and Indian River.
The Panhandle Classic will take place Friday and Saturday at Chipola College. The tournament field looks to be extremely talented as is usually the case. Participating teams from Florida are Chipola, Okaloosa-Walton, Tallahassee, Gulf Coast, Pensacola, and Santa Fe.

Coney is currently the leading scorer in the state. He is averaging 25.7 points per game and shooting an amazing 63 percent from the floor. Coney had a career-high 38 points in a win at Seminole last week.
Recruiting Updates
Miami Dade sophomore guard Xavier Dawson has been cleared academically and played in his first action of the season this past weekend in Wilmington. Dawson has signed a letter of intent with UTEP. FAU continues to pursue Chipola's Gerard Jackson.
