Focus on Howard College

The Howard College Hawks in Big Spring, TX pride themselves on their great defense. The Hawks currently lead the country in defensive scoring. The Hawks are currently 21-6 on the under head coach Mark Adams. Assistant coach Darren Frech touched base with JucoJunction today on a few of the Hawks' sophomores' recruitment.
Denzel Barnes, (SO) 5-foot-10 (170) from Oakland, CA, is a point guard currently receiving interest from Central Arkansas and California State Northridge according to coach French.

"Denzel is a great on the ball defender and he is the glue to our team," said French.
Barnes is currently averaging 12.2 ppg, 3.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists on the season for the Hawks.
Devon Baker, (SO) 6-foot-1 (175) from Bronx, NY, recently had 29 points versus New Mexico Junior College. Devon is receiving interest from Northwestern State, Stephen F. Austin, Weber State and Cal State Fullerton according to coach French. Baker is at 12.1 ppg and 2.6 rebounds on the season. Devon averaged 8.2 ppg as a freshman last season.
Markeys Dean, (SO) 6-foot-5 (200), hails from West Hempstead, NY.
"Dean's a combo forward uses his body really well to draw contact," said JucoJunction staff analyst Bret Swanson.
Dean is averaging 13 ppg and 5 rebounds while shooting 54.1% (123-227) from the floor. Murray State, South Carolina State and Weber State have shown interest in the forward this spring according to coach French.
The Hawks will look to get into post season play in the rugged Region 5 Western Texas with the likes of Midland College, South Plains, Odessa College, Frank Phillips, Western Texas College and New Mexico Junior College.
