Focus on Marion Military Institute

Marion Military Institute in Marion, AL is located in the southwestern part of near Selma. Marion Military made some noise last season in the Alabama region under head coach Marcus Thomas. Marion Military has been around for 166 years and has a enrollment of 450. The Tigers finished last year at (20-12). JucoJunction had a chance to watch the Tigers this past weekend at the Tallahassee Community College Southeastern Jamboree.
Jermaine Mallett, (SO) 6-foot-4 from Jackson, MS, is the leading scorer back from last year's Tigers squad. Mallett was an academic qualifier out of Wingfield High School. Jermaine averaged 12.8 ppg, 8 rebounds and 2.7 assists last season. Mallett, a shooting guard, shot 53.7% (129-240) from the floor for the Tigers. Jermaine really logs a lot of minutes for the Tigers. Detroit Mercy, Jacksonville State, North Texas and Alabama State have been in contact with him this fall according to coach Thomas.

Richard Harper, (SO) 6-foot-4 from Jackson, MS, was a high school teammate of Mallett in Jackson. Richard averaged 8.9 ppg and 3.1 rebounds and shot 51% (88-172) from the floor last season. Harper looks to attack the baseline a lot from the small forward position.
Michael Allen, (FR) 6-foot-8 (225) from Atlanta, GA, attended Mundy's Mill High School and played AAU with the Clayton Stars. Allen is a very intriguing prospect for the 2010 class. Michael really goes to work inside the paint and is long and agile. Michael moves well without the ball, setting screens and he keeps the ball up high after rebounding it.
Andrette Battle, (FR) 6-foot-3 from Atlanta, GA, plays the point guard position for the Tigers. Battle has really good size for a point guard and sees the floor well.
The Tigers will be playing this weekend at the Columbus State Jamboree in Columbus, GA on Saturday.
