Focus on Western Texas College

The Westerners of Western Texas College in Snyder, TX are playing this season under first year head coach Jason Sautter. Sautter was a assistant at Howard College in Big Spring, TX before landing the head job at Western Texas College. The Westerners are currently (14-6) on the season under coach Sautter in WJCAC Conference. JucoJunction had a chance to touch base with coach Sautter today on a few of his sophomores' recruitment.
Trevon Charles, (SO) 6-foot-4 (210) from Brooklyn, NY, is a third-year player who played at Monroe Community College-Rochester last season. Trevon enrolled at Quinnipiac University out of high school but didn't play.

"Trevon is a mismatch guy. He can play almost anywhere on the floor us. He has been our best player for the whole season," said Sautter.
Sam Houston State and High Point University have shown early interest on Charles on this season. Trevon is averaging 15 ppg this season.
Wayne Turner, (SO) 6-foot-0 (185) from New York City, sat out the first semester for the Westerners. Wayne started his college career at Southern Mississippi University in the 2006-2007 and DNP and then played in the fall of 2007 for the Golden Eagles. Turner found his way to Des Moines Area Community College in Boone, IA last spring 2008 but never played there for the Bears.
"Wayne is a tough, strong and super fast point guard," said Sautter.
Turner prepped at Grady High School in New York City. Wayne is currently averaging 12 ppg, 5 assists and 3 rebounds since getting eligible at the semester according to Sautter.
Damian Lewis, (SO) 6-foot-11 (260), is from Carthage, TX. The third-year center has received interest from Texas Christian University and Louisiana-Monroe this season according to Sautter.
Trevor Charles, (FR) 6-foot-8 (210) from Brooklyn, is the younger brother of Trevon and prepped at Genesis One Christian School in Mendenhall, MS for a few seasons before landing at the Snyder,TX school.
"Trevor is a long and athletic forward who likes to play out on the wing," said JucoJunction staff analyst Bret Swanson.
The Westerners will look to make some noise in the WJCAC Conference and play the upset role with the likes of Midland College, Odessa College, Howard College and South Plains.
