Four Serious Suitors for Panolas Thomas

While he has yet to hop on an airplane and start taking official visits, the list of schools seriously recruiting 6-5 Panola (TX) forward Omar Thomas is starting to take shape.
JUCO Junction caught up with Panola Head Coach Scott Monarch this week, and he told us that Dayton, Rhode Island, Texas El Paso and Evansville are the four most serious suitors for Thomas' services.

A native of Philadelphia, Thomas put up astounding numbers the past two years at Panola. As a sophomore this past season, he averaged 36.1 points and 17 rebounds per game, leading the Ponies to the Region 14 Championship game last month.
He topped the NJCAA in scoring and finished second in rebounding thanks to the stats cited above.
Monarch said that Thomas will start planning his official visits following this weekend's Final Four.
Of course, with the coaching carousel in full effect over the next several weeks, schools could hop in and out with Thomas. But Monarch said he expects that the four schools he mentioned to come down to Carthage, Tex., and visit with Thomas in the coming weeks.
Thomas is the undisputed king of the midrange game -- a lost art in today's game. He's not the quickest or most athletic player, but he has a knack for grabbing loose ball on both sides of the floor.
JUCO Junction will keep you posted on Thomas' situation as the signing period approaches. Stay tuned!
