Coach Schermerhorn took some time with JucoJunction to talk about his players recruitment for this year's (14-16) club. .
Roderick Johnson: (SO) 6-foot-7 (210) from Fullerton, CA. Johnson is one of the few leftovers off of last year's squad. Johnson is currently averaging 18.6 ppg and 8.7 rebounds from the small forward position.
"Roderick is a run-jump athlete who plays above the rim," said Schermerhorn.
Roderick's brother, Jermaine, plays at The College of Charleston. Roderick is a little bit older than your typical college sophomore. Johnson is currently receiving interest from Ball State, Chaminade, Azusa Pacific and Chico State (CA).
Bryan LeDuc: (SO) 6-foot-9 from Mission Viejo, CA. LeDuc is a 2002 high school graduate that moved onto Utah Valley State for the 2002-2003 season but did not play. Bryan took a Mormon mission from 2003-2005.
"Everybody wants this kid. He does all the dirty work and he has an unbelievable upside," said Schermerhorn.
The low post scorer who plays the center position for the Hornets will be a power forward at the four-year level. UC-Riverside and Pacific are actively recruiting LeDuc. Bryan is averaging 17.8 ppg and 12.9 rebounds this season while shooting 59.7% (185-310) from the floor.
Ray Magee: (FR) 6-foot-5 (210) from Placentia, CA.
"Ray has been a pleasant surprise this season," said Schermerhorn.
Ray is averaging 12.5 ppg and 6.5 rebounds from the small forward position. Magee
was a first all-conference player as a wide receiver for the Hornet football team this season.
