George Rolling to the Tide

After landing three solid high school guards in the class of 2004, the University of Alabama staff went to the junior college ranks to help build their backcourt depth when they landed Georgia Perimeter’s Ray George. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound guard is the first commitment for the Tide in 2005.
George, who is widely considered the top junior college prospect in the state of Georgia, unofficially visited Alabama on Monday. It didn’t take long for the former Southwest Dekalb (Ga.) High School product to pull the trigger.

“I told the Alabama staff that I had made up my mind and I wanted to play basketball for them,” George told Rivals.com’s Tim Watts. “They were happy but probably not as happy as I am. It’s a great opportunity for me and a great fit for me.”
The combo guard has great dribble penetration skills and his court vision skills are undervalued despite his constant double digit assist games. As a shooter, George has made improvements on the wing and he has perfected his form at the junior college and prep levels.
George was a key member of Georgia Perimeter’s 32-6 season last year and averaged 20 points and 11 assists per game.
