Georgia Southern nabs big-time forward

On the first day of the late signing period, Georgia Southern pulled off a big coup. Kilgore College forward Marcus Hubbard inked with Southern on Wednesday morning.
"It was just a constant battle trying to keep the big boys off of him," GSU assistant Chad Dollar said of JucoJunction's 46th ranked prospect. "The kid was just trying to find the best situation for himself. I think it helped also that we do have a large number of kids from Florida on our team."

Kilgore visited Kansas State and Louisiana-Lafayette back in the fall. He took a trip to Georgia Southern two weeks back.
"Cincinnati came in there once Mick Cronin got the job, I know that for a fact," Dollar said. "Oklahoma got involved when Sampson was there, SMU, Houston. All the big boys were coming in on him."
In Hubbard, GSU has a player that Dollar expects to start from his first day on campus.
"He will definitely," Dollar said. "We had the player of the year in our conference graduate. He was a guard and with Marcus stepping in, he'll definitely come in and solidify our starting lineup."
The Kilgore product should be able to play both forward spots according to Dollar.
"I like his versatility, he's able to play 3 and 4 at the same time," Dollar said. "I think his versatility will definitely give him a chance to play at the next level. He's able to do both. Occasionally, he wants to do the three more than the four. If he can do both of them, he'd have a chance, no question."
JucoJunction will continue to keep fans informed of all the news during the late signing period.
