Three sophomores that are expected to lead the Golden Norse are the following players. Cesar Mapeli, Joel Quinones and Aaron Francis will look to lead the squad this season.
Mapeli is a power forward hails from Brazil. Mapeli averaged 10.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game last season. "Cesar really glides around the floor quite easily. He likes to faceup in the high post," said JucoJunction Publisher Bret Swanson.
Quinones is the leading scorer back off last seasons team with 13.3 points per game. The shooting guard from Villa Carolina, Puerto Rico hit on 33 percent from 3-point range last season.
Francis is from the small town of Boutte, La. Francis averaged just 2.5 points and 2.8 rebounds per game last season for the Golden Norse. "Aaron is a left-handed run jump athlete who can really defend out on the perimeter while knocking down a 15 footer," said Swanson. Francis will for sure improve on his totals from last season.
NEO will look to try to pass the former region champs Redlands Community College and Connors State to make that step to the NJCAA National Tourney in Hutchinson, Kan. this coming March.
