Gulf Coast prospects taking visits

JucoJunction had a chance to watch Gulf Coast Community College this past weekend at the Southeastern Jamboree in Tallahassee, FL. The Commodores are coached by Jay Powell. Gulf Coast has a solid nucleus of sophomores on this years squad. JucoJunction has the latest on which Commodores players will be taking visits this coming weekend in this article.
Willie Kirkland, (SO) 6-foot-4, will journey to Charlotte University this weekend according to coach Powell. Kirkland played his freshman season at Chattahoochee Valley Community College in Phenix City, AL back in 2007-2008. Kirkland recently took an official visit to Coastal Carolina and walked away with a scholarship offer from the Chants.

"Willie has a knack for scoring the ball and creating his own shot," said JucoJunction staff analyst Bret Swanson.
Louisiana-Lafayette is also recruiting Kirkland and seeking a visit from the Graceville, FL native.
Michael Porrini, (SO) 6-foot-0 from Columbus, OH, will visit Southern Mississippi University this weekend according to coach Powell. Porrini started his college career at Western Carolina University.
"Michael is a vocal leader on the floor from the point guard position. Michael brings good leadership and toughness to the Commodores team," said Swanson.
Patrick Davis, (SO) 6-foot-10 from Milwaukee, WI, will visit Alabama State University according to coach Powell.
"Patrick is a slender post player with a long wingspan. Patrick prepped at Milwaukee Washington High School," said Swanson.
Davis averaged 1.3 ppg and 2.2 rebounds in limited action for the Commodores last season. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is also showing interest in Davis this fall.
JucoJunction will take a look at a few other Commodores sophomores making official visits this weekend in a another story in the near future.
