Guyton the latest to commit from CSI

There was the possibility of more trips down the road. But after taking his second official visit, Reggie Guyton, Jr. already knew what would be the best fit for him at the next level. So on Sunday morning, the cat-quick 5-foot-11, 175-pound point guard originally from Hillsboro High School made the call and committed to play in the Summit League.
"Reggie just committed to Oral Roberts," said Reggie Guyton, Sr. "Basically he had a really good visit there and he connected with all fo the players and coaches. They have a good opportunity of getting back to the NCAA Tournament and he felt that he could be an integral part of their success."

Guyton, Jr. made his commitment as interest was really starting to build up. He had just returned from an official visit to Arkansas-Little Rock when he decided on the Golden Eagles, which he had visited the weekend prior. There were other schools showing interest including SMU, San Francisco, and South Alabama but Guyton, Jr. determined that ORU was the best fit for him and will be inking his letter-of-intent with the program in the very near future.
"He had a great visit to Arkansas-Little Rock which made it tough," Guyton Sr. said. "As well, SMU is in a bigger conference, and San Francisco is on the West Coast which would afford him the chance to play a couple times a year in front of family and friends."
But Oral Roberts gave Guyton, Jr. the best chance at playing early and playing for a winner. His father couldn't be happier about the decision.
"I feel extremely confident in Reggie's abilities as over the years he's turned out to be a really good point guard," Guyton Sr. said. "He now has a better understanding of how to run a team, especially with a lot of talent on it. He just makes good decisions with the ball and he keeps turnovers to a minimum."
Guyton Jr. had to head the JC route in order to eventually make to the Division I level, but as we have seen over the years it has all worked out for the best.
"Two years at CSI (College of Southern Idaho) was the best thing that could have happened to Reggie," Guyton Sr. said. "Coach Barrett Perry and his staff did a tremendous job coaching him and giving him the tough love that he needed."
