Hannah Signs with Houston; Wright Wrapping Up Trip

Rodney Hannah might have been leaning toward St. Bonaventure going into his official visit to Houston last weekend, but the athletic 6-7 power forward from Yuba College in California did an about face after spending 48 hours in Space City.
As a result, Hannah signed a letter of intent to attend Houston on Monday, according to Yuba Head Coach Doug Cornelius.

"He really liked the coaches at St. Bonaventure, but when he went to Houston, everything just felt right -- the facilities, the coaches, the school," Cornelius told JUCO Junction on Monday night. "He clicked with Coach Penders off the bat."
An impressive physical specimen, Hannah had narrowed his focus to St. Bonaventure and Houston earlier this month. He visited St. Bonnies from Apr. 16-18 and Houston from Apr. 23-25.
While he's an impressive athlete, Hannah is still learning the game in many respects. Of late, Cornelius said he's been tearing it up in open gym sessions, and the coach thinks that bodes well for his future in Conference USA.
"If he can go in there with that kind of attitude, he has phenomenal potential," Cornelius said. "He's a world class athlete with size, hands and he can run the floor."
"He's come leaps and bounds since he was a freshman," Cornelius continued. "He needs to continue working on skill development."
Yuba will hold a press conference on Friday at 12 p.m. P.S.T. to formally announce Hannah's signing to the local media. By that time, it's conceivable that 6-4 sophomore Lawrence Wright could also have a decision.
Wright is currently on an official visit to Bradley University (Apr. 27-29). Southern Utah and Washington State are also in the mix, although the Cougars' pitch is unique.
Cornelius said that Washington State would bring Wright in to run track for a year (2004-2005), and then play two years of basketball from 2005-2007.
That said, Bradley was firmly in the driver's seat prior to Wright's official visit to the Illinois school.
JUCO Junction will keep you posted on Wright's situation until it reaches a conclusion this spring. Stay tuned!
