Hawaii lands juco big man

College of Eastern Utah made a great run this season to the Final Four at the NJCAA National Tourney in Hutchinson, KS. JucoJunction found out today from Golden Eagles head coach Chris Craig that one of his players signed a National Letter of Intent for next fall. Read more about it here.
"Vander Joaquim will play at the University of Hawaii next season. He will have three years to play for them," said Craig.

Joaquim, a native of Angola, Africa, came to College of Eastern Utah after attending Mountain State Academy in West Virginia for one semester. Joaquim has some work to do in the classroom this summer but ha has the chance to leave with three years to play for the Warriors.
"Vander is a very skilled big man that has a great competitive side," said Craig.
Joaquim averaged 8.9 ppg and 6.8 rebounds in his one season in Price,UT. Joaquim enrolled in CEU during the spring semester 2009 after leaving Mountain State Academy. Joaquim will join forces at the University of Hawaii with new associate head coach Walter Roese. Roese recruited the post player to Nebraska before landing at Hawaii recently.
