Hawkeyes land Highland prospect

Devan Bawinkel will get to see his former coach at West Virginia next season when he suits up for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes next season. Devan played for now Michigan Head coach John Beilein at West Virginia as a freshman where he averaged 1.9 ppg in nine minutes of action.
"Devan committed today to the University of Iowa," said Highland Community College assistant coach Conric Sanders.
Bawinkel helped the Cougars win the Region 4 championship this past season before dropping to Three Rivers Community College (MO) this past Tuesday 82-67 to end their season. Devan averaged 13.4 ppg, 4.7 rebounds and shot 44.5% (99-222) from three point range. Bawinkel also received MVP honors in the Arrowhead Conference.
Bawinkel, (SO) 6-foot-4 (205) from Winnebago, IL, joins teammates Anthony Simpson (Idaho) and Anthony Boyle (UW-Milwaukee) in committing early for next season.
